The Houston Fire Department is battling a large fire that broke out Sunday on Crawford Street. The fire started in a small pasture and spread rapidly across the mulch, which caused a major alarm in the area. Although no injuries have been reported so far, firefighters have asked residents to avoid the affected area.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. Crews will continue to fight the fire through the night, and emergency officials asked that people prone to respiratory problems stay indoors or cover up with a mask when outdoors near the affected area.

Firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to several warehouses and homes near the fire. The extreme heat hindered firefighting efforts as work continues in the area to prevent the fire from spreading. A hundred firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, which spread at top speed.
